The Development in 3D Printing Art-Appreciation Educational Material for Promoting Discourse Competence in Visually Impaired Children

초록

Modern society is putting emphasis on the creative thinking and the contextualization ability. Accordingly, to foster the ability of freely expressing with containing own idea in a fixed form, even the school art education is needed a policy-based strategy and support for expanding excellence. Especially, excellence in art education has a merit as saying of being able to respond complexly with respecting diversity, interest and learning level in each individual of students based on a characteristic peculiar to art. Hence, fine art is very effective as curriculum of supporting so that each individual in handicapped students with various learning ability levels can attain the joy of achievement. Learners with visual impairment imply the learners who require special support or adjustment in receiving education due to the loss or the lack of visual literacy. There are many children who are continuously progressed visual impairment. There is even a case of having become total blindness caused by an accident after having been normal vision. Many children, who suffer generally from psychological depression and loss, are being reported. Thus, it is a situation of being desperate in teaching-learning educational materials and tools available for giving more powerful learning motivation compared to non-disabled children. The art-appreciation educational material with the application of 3D printing technology, which was suggested in this study, was devised in order to be possibly felt more vividly through the empathy with the production purpose possessed by famous painting and with an artist's lifetime based on the lesson observation at a school for the visually impaired, and on the interview with special education teachers and visually-impaired students. The famous-painting appreciation teaching material, which was developed, was made 3D painting focusing on a line as for students with total blindness, and on the form of assistance as for students with low vision partially sighted through considering a constituent characteristic of our country's visually impaired class, which is integrally composed of the students with total blindness and low vision(partial sight). Also, a teaching-learning guidance plan, which is included the directions of teaching materials and the guidance method of appreciating famous painting, was developed for special education teachers who did not major in fine arts. In conclusion, this study aims to offer a methodological change of exploring a new form to visually impaired students through designing educational material using new technology, and further to make it available for facilitating discourse competence.
