초록
A decision making for becoming an entrepreneur is the function of the expected income from the entrepreneurial decision. If the expected income from the entrepreneurial decision is smaller than the fixed income from worker status, an individual is potentially intended to choose to maintain his work status. This paper aims at scrutinizing how individual specific entrepreneurial career path choice is affected by both governmental supports and societal values on entrepreneurship itself. Practically, governmental supports can expand the chance to earn successful entrepreneurial returns. For pursuing the purpose of the paper, a theoretic model is constructed, which produces some important implications. First, when both the governmental supports and the societal values on entrepreneurship are both high enough, then individuals are more likely to choose to become entrepreneurs. Second, even under conservative government’s supports, individuals are responsive to the societal values as they can earn larger entrepreneurial compensations. Third, governments are able to sustain entrepreneurship taking advantage of conservative entrepreneurial policies. These theoretic predictions are supported by empirical evidences.
