초록

This study examines how career plateau influences stress, burnout, and multifaceted turnover intentions among airline cabin crew members by comparing full-service carriers (FSCs) and low-cost carriers (LCCs). Career plateau was categorized into hierarchical and job content career plateaus, and their psychological and behavioral impacts were assessed. Data were collected through a survey of 382 Korean cabin crew members with at least three years of experience and in-depth interviews with 14 participants. Quantitative results showed that a job content career plateau significantly heightened stress, leading to burnout. LCC crew members reported stronger turnover intentions, whereas burnout among FSC crew members did not necessarily translate into turnover intentions, suggesting that its effects may be constrained by organizational and labor market conditions. Qualitative findings revealed coping strategies such as goal adjustment and highlighted carrier-specific interpretations of turnover. Social support moderated the burnout–turnover link, buffering negative outcomes
