Energy Saving Assessment of a Centralized Liquid Desiccant and Evaporative Cooling-assisted Ventilation System with an Organic Rankine Cycle in an Apartment Building

초록

The purpose of this research is to analyze the energy performance of the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) applied to a centralized liquid desiccant and evaporative cooling-assisted ventilation system in an apartment building. As a small combined heat and power application in apartment buildings, the ORC produces heat and power consumed by the proposed system and building. A conventional decentralized energy recovery ventilator (ERV) served by the existing power grid was chosen as a reference system. The ORC integrated with liquid desiccant and evaporative cooling-assisted ventilation system can offer energy savings by recovering heat from the ORC condenser compared to conventional ERVs. As a result, the proposed system could provide supply air with better condition and reduce the parallel system energy consumption. Consequently, the proposed system saved 27% annual primary energy with better system COP compared that of the ERV when the power produced from the ORC was applied for the common electricity of the building.
