지방자치단체 공무원의 다문화수용성 결정요인에 관한 연구

초록

Korea is rapidly changing into multicultural society due to increase in the number of foreigners residing in Korea. Although Korea has entered a multicultural society, research on multicultural policies is still lacking in the public administration field. The main purpose of this study is to establish the influencing factors that affect multicultural acceptance of public officials affiliated to local autonomous entities. Using public officials’ perceptions, we have found that individual, organizational, and environmental factors influence multicultural acceptance of public officials. As individual factors, mutlcultral experience, educational training, and motive of public service are found to be related to multicultural acceptance of public officials. A diversity policy as an organizational factor, and local infrastructure and convergence with indigenous people as an environmental factor are related to public officials’ multiculutral acceptance. The implication of the findings have been discussed in the paper.
