한국의 공영방송 연구 30년: 1989년~2019년 국내 17개 학술지 메타 분석을 중심으로

This study meta-analyzed 224 papers on public broadcasting that were published from 1989 to 2019 in 17 academic journals related to journalism in Korea. To this end, the research subjects, researchers, research purposes, research methodologies, whether or not the central theory, the countries to be studied, and the nature of the discussion were set as the main analysis items. The results of the study are as follows. First, South Korea's public broadcasting research has shown that it has steadily continued quantitative growth. Second, <Studies of Broadcasting Culture> published the largest number of public broadcasting papers. Third, the absence and bias of diversity were identified in the research topic. Legislation and policy related to public broadcasting services (21.9 percent), development strategy (17.9 percent), and research on financial resources (11.2 percent). Fourth, the bias towards literature research and the poverty of empirical research were identified in the research methodology. Fifth, research without central theory or core concept throughout the analysis period showed that 68.8 percent of the total research was conducted. Sixth, the majority of the studies under analysis were focused on normative and technical discussions. The study only outlines the overall trends and trends of Korean public broadcasters over the past 30 years, with the limitation that it failed to look deep into the intense agony of numerous public broadcasting researchers and their research achievements.
