A Case of Pseudohyponatremia after Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy in Guillain Barre Syndrome

초록

Serum sodium can be measured only in the aqueous phase of plasma, thus pseudohyponatremia is a laboratory artifact that occurs when the non-aqueous phase of plasma is expanded with a resulting relative decrease in the aqueous phase of plasma. Pseudohyponatremia is known to occur after the administration of intravenous infusion of gamma globulin (IVIG), a treatment often used in management of Guillain Barre syndrome(GBS).
