초록
This study estimates the balance of foreign exchanges of North Korea for the years 2000 through 2008. Quite striking results obtained are that North Korea have experienced no problem in procuring foreign exchanges well over their import requirements of over 9 billion US dollars for the period 2000 through 2008. This was done even without selling arms and illegal products such as opiums, counterfeiting of US notes (so-called “super-notes”), drugs or cigarettes. North Korea's "official" balance of foreign exchanges has been very likely to be on the surplus side for almost every year for the estimation period. Even more than that, North Kora has accumulated foreign exchanges at least since 2000 if we count trades of arms and illegal products.
