신한류(新韓流)의 담론정치－주요일간지 한류 보도에 관한 담론분석을 중심으로－

초록

The purpose of this study is to critically examine the socio-cultural implications of the Korean Wave discourses, by analyzing how the Korean media represent the Korean Wave. For this, we utilized both textual and discourse analysis in analyzing the major daily newspapers’ articles, and our findings are as follows. First of all, the Korean society seems to perceive the Korean Wave from the undue perspective of cultural economies. Second, it has been confirmed that Korea is functioned as a sub-cultural imperialist through the Korean Wave. Lastly, a considerable amount of discourses were based on the cultural affinity and/or cultural hybridity from a slightly different perspective. Based on such findings, we contend that the Korean society will need a persistent self-reflexivity, especially when the Korean Wave is spreading out to Europe, Latin America, and others, beyond Asia.
