초록

This study qualitatively examined the personal life changing experiences of middle-aged married women counselors through their counseling training and activities. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted for eight middle-aged married women counselors who had a master's degree in counseling and a minimum of five years of counseling experiences. Data were analyzed using the phenomenological research method proposed by Giorgi. As a result, 52 sub-components, 14 components, and five themes were finally derived. Participants reported that they were able to gain a deep self-understanding and their own changes, and to acknowledge and accept self differences from others, their ways of seeing and coping methods with interpersonal conflicts changed, and realign their relationships with others through counseling training and activities. It was confirmed that they were pursuing inner growth by studying and reflecting because there were remain tasks to be solved. This study provides empirical evidence showing that counseling training and activities would not only enhance counselors' professional competencies, but also lead to positive changes in their personal lives.
