Analysis of Empirical Studies on Metaverse Design Education

초록

According to the revision of the 2022 curriculum, digital basic skills are to be cultivated through all subjects, and teaching and learning using it is expected to be applied to art and design education. Therefore, this study collected and analyzed empirical data of past researchers who derived learning effects and obstacles of design education using metaverse to help active and efficient teaching and learning in school sites. As a result of the in-depth analysis of six papers and the complementary analysis of one paper, the learning effects of design education using metaverse are that it strengthens learners’ immersion in the aesthetic experience area, expands the area with new media in the expression area, and leads to high interest in learning motivation and self-directed learning through new sensory experiences in the appreciation area. In addition, we found that the physical limitations of the environment, such as space and equipment, and the need for teachers and students to have technical prior learning for lessons were obstacles. However, in the field of learning, teachers were urgently requesting various lesson models and lesson guides linked to the curriculum. It is necessary for researchers to reflect this demand and develop lesson plans suitable for the 2022 curriculum in close cooperation with educational sites.
