신체-공간 상호작용에 기반한 무용 서사 형성 연구 －양리핑 「십면매복(十面埋伏)」의 역사 서사 형성 원리 탐색－

초록

This study aims to explore the historical narrative formation principles in Yang Liping’s dance drama Under Siege(十面埋伏, 2015) through the lens of body-space interaction. The analysis adopts a complex research design combining performance text analysis and qualitative content analysis, focusing on the work that has been continuously presented on international stages since its Chinese premiere in 2015. The research findings are as follows. First, the historical narrative of Under Siege is structured in three acts that selectively deploy key scenes—the Chu-Han confrontation, the siege of Gaixia, surrounded by Chu songs, and the Farewell of the Hegemon—corresponding to a tragic arc of crisis, intensification, and catastrophe. Second, in terms of bodily expression, the gender-transgressing portrayal of Yu Ji, the oppositional physical relationships among Xiang Yu, Liu Bang, and Han Xin, and the collective body formations that render the battlefield visible function as core principles forming the emotional and structural meaning of historical narrative. Third, in terms of spatial composition, scenic devices centered on red feathers and scissor formations, spatial divisions(vertical, lateral, front-back), and spatial transitions construct the battlefield imagery and drive the narrative flow. Fourth, bodily expression and spatial composition do not operate separately; the tragic dimension of historical narrative is completed through the organic interaction of these two elements. This study contributes to expanding the methodological scope of contemporary dance analysis by theorizing the principles of dance narrative formation through the integrated perspective of body-space interaction.
