재한 중국 유학생의 진로 결정 과정에 대한 근거이론적 접근: 학부 4학년생을 중심으로

초록

This study explored the career decision-making process of senior Chinese international students in Korea using grounded theory method. Through interviews with 15 students, data analysis yielded 73 concepts, 30 subcategories and 12 categories. The paradigm model, identified the central phenomenon as ‘Confusion and uncertainty in the career decision-making process’. This was influenced by causal conditions (family influence; social-cultural values) and contextual conditions (socio-political environments of Korea and China; COVID-19). Intervening conditions (resource utilization; psychological/realistic constraints) mediated the action/interaction strategies, leading to three outcome types: ‘Proactive type’ (based on personal desires), ‘Conforming type’ (based on parents’ wishes), and ‘Deferred type’. Furthermore, the process analysis revealed a five-stage progression: ‘Conformity’, ‘Conflict’, ‘Activation of Internal Needs’, ‘Proactive Coping’ and ‘Career Decision’. The core category was derived as ‘Establishing a self-directed career path through confusion and uncertainty.’ Based on these findings, academic and practical implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research were presented.
