The Impact of Parent-Child Relationships on Self-Resilience Among High School Students from Multicultural Families : The Mediating Role of Basic Psychological Needs and Multi-Group Analysis of Multicultural Backgrounds

초록

This study analyzed how children from multicultural families enhance their personal traits of autonomy, competence, and relatedness through intimate relationships with their parents, and how these traits in turn affect their self-resilience. The research included groups with diverse backgrounds, such as children born to Korean nationals, foreign workers, and immigrants. The results showed that the greater the intimacy between parent and child, the more enhanced the child’s autonomy, competence, and relatedness, which are crucial for increasing self-resilience. Notably, children from Korean-born families were less influenced by positive relatedness on their self-resilience compared to other groups. This research provides significant insights for the development of tailored support policies and programs considering the diversity of multicultural families. It reemphasizes the importance of inclusive education and support policies in a multicultural society.
