Recently, demands for high efficiency, high power, and high performance are increasing due to the impactof energy saving policies. To meet these demands, research on Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM) has been in the spotlight. IPMSM has the characteristics of low speed, high torque or high speed operation,and high output density. However, there is a disadvantage that existing induction motors are unreliable, and so the robustcontrol method IPMSM is required to increase this reliability. In this paper, a control algorithm suitable for next-generationrailway vehicles is proposed that increases control performance by utilizing on-line parameter measurementmethod to increase the reliability of IPMSM. The proper control scheme possesses a prominent aspect in that it canforce systems to follow the desired reference model. The validity of the proposed technique is verified through MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation results and experiments.
