Anti-Jamming Scheme Based on ICA in Tactical Communication Network for Small Military Unit

초록

In modern warfare, the importance of electronic warfare has been proven on numerous battlefields, including the Gulf War in the 1990s, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War in the 2000s. Especially in the late 2010s, the U.S. military has organized the Cyber Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) team to support the cyber electronic warfare, and the team has currently supported electronic warfare operations by small military units below the battalion level. The CEMA team’s primary missions are tactical jamming against hostile networks and anti-jamming for friendly networks. Therefore, anti-jamming schemes against hostile jamming are required in Korean tactical communication network (TCN) for small military units. In this paper, we propose an improved anti-jamming scheme in TCN for small military unit, and analyze the anti-jamming performance. We first examine conventional methods and constraints on anti-jamming algorithms in TCN for small military units. Then, we propose a method that improves anti-jamming abilities by using the independent component analysis based on eigenvalue decomposition when jamming channel information is unavailable. Through computer simulations, we validate the anti-jamming performance of the proposed method.
