초록
Polystyrene (PS), a bright, little opaque and colorless polymer material, has been widely used in electrospinning due to its high electrical resistance, low dielectric loss and hydrophobicity. Silver (Ag) is a white metal, having good ductile and malleable properties. It is one of the best known conductor of electricity and thermal conductivity. Moreover, silver possesses lowest contact resistance. Nanoparticles are such ultrafine particles whose at least one dimension, is in the range of 100 nm. At nano scale, silver nanoparticles show extra ordinarily novel physicochemical properties and biological activities owing to their extremely small size. For electrospinning, polymer is dissolved in a volatile solvent. A variety of solvents have been used by different researchers to dissolve Polystyrene (PS). Mostly Di Methyl Formamide (DMF) is employed for its high dipole moment, however, DMF is extremely toxic. Chloroform (CHCl3) has been used in this study for its low boiling point (61.2℃) which assures that no traces of solvent would be left behind in electrospun web. But chloroform and its as-prepared solutions do not have electrical conductivity. In this study, SNE (silver nanoparticles ethanol based) were added to as-prepared solutions to introduce conductivity.
