Purpose: This study was a qualitative study on the sexuality and sexual life experiences of older adults. Methods: Data were collected through focus group interviews and were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Participants were 13 older adults living in the community. Results: Four major themes were discovered: patriarchal sexuality of older men, passive and submissive sexuality of older women, body and mind intimate communication, sexual life of the couple, and desire for a better marital relationship. Conclusion: Meaning of older adult sexuality was derived from the phenomenon that women accept men. Sexual experience of an older adult couple is intimate communication. The phenomenon of hope for a good relationship was derived from the results. Findings of this study suggest that sexual education is needed to improve sexual cognition and correct sex knowledge of older adults, and it is necessary to train nursing staff so that they can effectively deal with sexual issues among older adults. An environment is also required in which intervention programs to enhance the relationship for the older adult couple can be developed and used.
