This study attempts to give an overall understanding of ‘dance’ in the Cheongju farm music that has gradually disappeared and also to lay a foundation in developing the study of dance in the Chungbuk province. The conclusions are as follows. First, the loss of ‘Gutgeorijangdan’-the dance rhythm of Cheongju farm music-has been caused by the difficulty in the preservation due to a verbal transmission, and the abbreviation of ‘Gutgeorijangdan’ as the play became rearranged to a theatrical performance. Second, ‘Beobgunori’ thoroughly represents a calm and gentle dance style of the Chungbuk province. and The uniqueness of the Cheongju dance has remained slightly in almost every dance style. Third, ‘Jickeumsang’, ‘Yangsangmo’, ‘Chiljaebeobgu’, ‘Beolimbeobgu’, ‘Jwawoochigi’are the names commonly used by the preservation group or instructors working in the field. The preliminary academic studies have named those styles as ‘Yeopgeorumchigi’,‘Maetneunsang’, ‘Eolreobeoleochigi’, ‘Anjeonsawi’ and ‘GGokdusangmo.’ Besides, other dancing movements such as ‘raising up and down a drum in a diagonal line’, ‘raising a drum up to the chest and down to the waist with two hands, and ‘stretching out both hands in a diagonal line while standing still’ have been adopted. No ‘Nabisang’ or ‘Yeonpungdae’ appeared, and dynamic dance display such as ‘Garaedeulgo-aneunsang’ or ‘Jabandduigi’ has not been introduced. ❙ keyword: Cheongju farm music, Beobg
