초록
According to the academic subject, trend, and historical context, the author reflects on and forecasts the 100-year history of the study of Korean classical poetry in four stages: the research of the first generation during the Japanese colonial era, and the second generation of the early 70s after 8.15 liberation, the third generation between the late 70s and the 90s, and the 4th generation after the 90s. During the Japanese colonial period, the core of the research by first-generation scholars such as Tae-Jun Kim and Yun-Je Cho was modernity as the discovery of the other, establishment of national literature as resistance against colonial invasion, and positivism and Marxism research methodology. From the moment of liberation to the early 1970s, the biggest trends in the research by second-generation scholars such as Ja-Kyun Koo, Jung-Ok Ko, and Byung-Wook Jung were the establishment of national literature, the intrinsic modernity of Korean literature, the restoration after the war, and the otherization of progressive interpretation, and the separation South Korean literature between North Korean literature. The trends of the research from the 1970s to the 1990s, led by the third generation, including Dong-Won Choi, Dong-Il Cho, and No-Jun Park, were overwhelming and breaking out of historical criticism and positivism, the splendid flowering of poetry research, and building a solid foundation for research. They applied historical criticism to the positivist methodology to conduct a detailed examination and interpretation of the work. However, some scholars escaped beyond this and focused on form and poetic analysis of poetry and revealing the aesthetic value. In the 21st century, researchers should combine formalist criticism, semiotics, and aesthetics of autonomy with Marxist criticism, the aesthetics of heteronomy, and cultural studies. When researchers depart from the paradigm of identity and conduct research with the paradigm of difference, the horizon of new research should open. In addition, if researchers ‘read against the texture’ from the standpoint of a subaltern, paying attention to those who are excluded or stand at the borderline, deviate from the dominant discourse, interpretations different from the existing ones will be abundantly produced.
