초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain the insight in the parenting experiences and welfare service needs of mothers with elementary school children who have visual impairments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: To explore the parenting experiences and welfare service needs of mothers with elementary school children who have visual impairments, 8 mothers participated in the study and individual in-depth interview was conducted, and data was analyzed by the CQR method. Results: First, the characteristics of education and rearing experience of mothers were ‘limitations of education for children with visual impairments' and ‘changing roles in rearing children. Second, the changed domains by visually impaired elementary school children during the COVID-19 were ‘internal changes of children in COVID-19' and ‘environmental changes of children in COVID-19. Third, the domains of welfare service need for elementary school children who have visual impairments were ‘the desire to support learning sites for visual impairments' and ‘the desire for social welfare services.' Conclusion: We sought to gain a thorough understanding of the psychosocial experiences and particular requirements of mothers with visually impaired children during the COVID-19 pandemic era, and this article could be provide the practical implication such as counseling, psychological services, and welfare assistance for the post-COVID-19.
