Construction of Rate-compatible Block-type LDPC Codes Suitable for Layered BP Decoding

초록

In this paper, design criteria of Block-type Low-Density Parity-Check (B-LDPC) codes are proposed and construction methods of B-LDPC codes by extension, which are suitable for the conventional belief propagation decoding and layered decoding, are proposed. Using the B-LDPC code of rate 1/2 adopted in IEEE 802.16e standard, rate-compatible B-LDPC (RC B-LDPC) codes are constructed to achieve the code rate 2/5 and 1/3. Through analysis and simulation, it is verified that the RC B-LDPC codes constructed by the proposed method result in a feasible decoding complexity and good Frame Error Rate (FER) performance.
