As the society becomes aging, the elderly problem is also increasing. One of them is a walking accident for the elderly. A silver zone is being implemented but it is not well known. In order to reduce pedestrian accidents, the pedestrian environment suitable for the elderly should be improved. Accordingly, this study attempted to understand the pedestrian environment of the elderly protection zone in order to provide a safer and more convenient pedestrian environment for the elderly. First, the characteristics of the pedestrian environment w ere identif ied according to previous studies. The characteristics of the walking environment include safety, accessibility, convenience, and comfort. These are all included in the pedestrian environment factor in the standard of walking for the elderly, so we tried to classify it as a pedestrian environment factor instead of evaluating it as a pedestrian environment characteristic. Pedestrian environment f actors were reclassified according to previous studies related to pedestrian environment factors, and based on this, three elderly protection zones were selected to evaluate the pedestrian environment for the elderly.
