휠체어 이용 장애인의 활동 및 이동 특성 분석: 통행 설문조사와 GPS Trajectory 데이터를 활용하여

Mobility and accessibility are fundamental to social participation for wheelchair users, profoundly influencing their quality of life and overall satisfaction. Despite the increasing proportion of individuals with physical disabilities within the population, research on travel behavior and trip chain analysis has predominantly focused on non-disabled individuals, leaving a gap in empirical studies on the activity and mobility characteristics of wheelchair users. This study addresses this gap by employing a multidimensional approach, integrating mobile phone GPS data with mobility surveys to analyze the activity patterns of wheelchair users while considering both subjective perceptions and spatial mobility. Utilizing a density-based clustering technique, we identified stay and movement points from GPS trajectory data, which lacked clear distinctions between trips and purposes, to construct trip chains. This analysis allowed us to derive activity characteristics based on stay types and mobility characteristics by trip purpose for wheelchair users. The results reveal that wheelchair users spend a significant portion of their day at home and frequently visit locations near their residence, indicating a reliance on home-centered living. Furthermore, even when venturing out, over half of the visited locations were repetitive, with a notably low frequency of visits to new places. These findings highlight the fixed activity patterns and limited mobility of wheelchair users, underscoring the importance of community efforts to expand their activity space and enhance opportunities for social participation. This study provides valuable policy insights for ensuring the mobility of transportation-disadvantaged individuals, including those with disabilities, and improving access to various facilities.
