초록
This study examined the moderated mediation effect of supervisor support on the relationship between counselors' emotional intelligence and working alliance through countertransference behaviors. An online survey was conducted with 398 counselors who had terminated counseling with a single client and had received supervision regarding that specific case at least once. The study results were as follows: First, countertransference behaviors significantly mediated the relationship between emotional intelligence and working alliance. Second, supervisor support significantly moderated the relationship between countertransference behaviors and working alliance. Third, it was discovered that the mediation effect showed moderation depending on the supervisor's support level, while the counselor's emotional intelligence influenced working alliance through countertransference behavior. These results proved that counselors with higher emotional intelligence are less likely to display countertransference behavior. This strengthens the working alliance with clients. Furthermore, this process is enhanced when counselors perceive a high level of support from their supervisors. Based on these results, practical implications and limitations of the study are discussed, and suggestions for future research are provided.
