아동의 권리, 복지, 평등을 위한 미술교육 - 사회문화예술교육을 통한 미술교육의 맥락적 고찰 -

초록

The field of arts education including art education in Korea has experienced a dynamic change in the beginning of the 21st century. Despite the fact that the social demands and supports for arts education has expanded, art in school has encroached due to the burden and pressure of competition. Considering this ironical situation of art education, this study attempts to search the ways to re-define the social role of art education in the context of the Extended Arts and Culture Education. The ‘context’ is regarded as the flux of social, political, and economic changes in interaction of theory and practice. Thus, the discussion of the context of art education from the socio-cultural perspective encompasses arts educational policies, social and educational theories and discourses on arts education. The cross-disciplinary approach of this study purports to expand the framework of art education and to provide a shifted vision for art education. The purpose of this study is to project a conceptual map for art education in the context of social, cultural, and political change in Korea. Thus, the extensive theoretical research on each concepts such as identity, social justice, or welfare in association with art education should follow in the future research. In addition, the development of curriculum or instructional methods that would actualize the proposed objectives of art education in the social context is out of the scope of this study. Therefore, it is expected that this study could initiate further discussions on how art education can benefit diverse populations and prepare them for the future society.
