Validity and Meaning
초록
This paper is an attempt to explicate the meaning of the famous slogan, “validity is a matter of form”. I examine if we can say every argument that is valid is an instance of a valid logical form. I argue that there is room for the so-called analytic consequences, i.e. arguments which are valid and not formally valid. For this I contrast the intuitive conception of validity with the formal conception of validity, then show that the latter has its own difficulties.
