초록
As place is a spatial setting which is given meaning based on human experience, the meaning and attachment of place are important components for understanding the relationship between place and human being. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine place meaning and place attachment in urban tourism by applying visitor employed photography(VEP) which is one of the photo-elicitation techniques. This study is conducted through the in-depth interview with 10 tourists at Seochon village which is the famous urban tourist spot. The results of the study indicate that urban tourists form the place attachment including place identity/affective attachment, place dependence, place familarity, place belongingness, and place rootedness through various meaning. Furthermore, the findings show that social and environmental problems faced with urban tourism such as local identity, authenticity, gentrification, and commercialization have a directly and indirectly significant effect on formation of place attachment. As a result, the study provides theoretical and managerial implications for the future research and for the development of urban tourism.
