As the greenhouse gas emissions problem has gotten worse and worse, it has been unavoidable situation to regulate energy consumption of all buildings in the world. In order to reduce building energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, green building certification and rating system are required mandatorily. Lots of developed countries have already established their own regulations which could prohibit for the buildings to producing excessive amount of greenhouse gas emissions; for instance, England has taken BREEAM, Japan has taken CASBEE and U.S. has taken LEED. Despite these efforts, lots of criteria about interior environment design were inefficient to satisfy user’s need and environmental friendly interior design. This article aims to analyze standards of LEED certification and find out which aspects should be added and revised. The main method of this article is to visit 6 buildings, which are located in Missouri and received a prize of USGB and analyze their LEED certification criteria. Field study and interview was done to examine how research subjects could obtain successful result with environmental friendly design strategy. As a result, study showed that current green buildings are built in the point of view about innovation and water energy efficiency much more than environmental friendly interior design, sustainable sites, energy & atmosphere, materials & resources, and innovation & design process. Therefore, it is expected for us to establish more detail criteria about evironmental-friendly indoor environment based on this study: more study and research about environmental-friendly interior design should be implemented from now on. This study could provide basic reference data for developing criteria of environmental-friendly interior design.
