Vidian Nerve Schwannoma Presenting as Facial Palsy -A Case Report-
초록
목적 : Schwannoma is a common benign tumor arising from Schwann cells and the vestibular division of vestibulocochlear nerve is the most commonly sffected in cranial nerve. We present a case of the exceedingly rare entity of the vidian nerve schwannoma. 대상 : A 13-year old girl presented with headache and facial palsy for 20 days. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a 1.2 x 1cm sized round extra-axial mass that located in right pterygoid canal. Surgical intervention was performed. 결과 : The patient underwent total resection of the tumor, located in the right pterygoid canal via transsphenoidal approach. The pathological report revealed a schwannoma of the vidian nerve. 결론 : We report a rare case of a vidian nerve schwannoma. The probable histogenesis concerning the origin of this tumor are discussed with review of literature.
