In addition, there are a large number of countries that are considered to be maritime silk roads, and military strategy is a key strategy for China, which has grown into a G2 nation. Port network construction is at the main point of these maritime silk road strategies. China divides its target area into five areas and differentiates priorities and approaches of strategy development. At this stage, China is concentrating its capabilities on ASEAN, expanding its influence to Southwest Asia and Northeast Africa. In this process, the main port is selected as a ‘Strategic Linkage Node' and it is concentrated on this port. In addition, foreign ports that are more economically important than military security are defined as “Important Linkage Node” and strengthen active economic cooperation. In order to realize this, China expanding investments to secure the operating rights of overseas ports, and are pursuing the ‘Port Federation' with Chinese domestic ports.
