The Comparative Study on Leading factors of Flexible Working Hours System in Korea, U.K., and Germany

초록

This study aims to identify institutional leading factors at both corporate and national levels in Korea, the U.K., and Germany, where the difference in the development of flexible working hours systems was observed. Moreover, it explores interaction mechanisms that vary among countries. This study analyzed the impact on the introduction of flexible working hours systems by applying the key institutional characteristics of the varieties of capitalism model to the corporate level such as corporate governance, inter-firm relations, labor-management relations, and training. In case of Germany, result shows that all four variables which contain corporate management systems, inter-firm relations, workers' voice organizations, and investment in training have a strong influence to the flexible working hours systems. In the U.K., result shows that investment in training affects the flexible working hours systems. In Korea, study1 shows that the corporation's collective voice instrument affects the flexible working hours systems.
